Abstract
GA 3R-hYdroxYlase and hyoscyamine 6P-hydro xylase belong to the 2-oxoglutarate-dependent dioxygenases which require 2-oxoglutarate, ferrous ions, molecular oxygen and ascorbate for ca- =fps: u~ talysis. GA 30-hydroxylation is particulary interesting, since 3R-hydroxylated GAt is the active GA #. in the regulation of internode elongation in higher plants. The tropane alkaloid scopolamine is a medicinally important anticholinergic drug in several solan.aceous plants. Hyoscyamine FR-hydroxylase catalyzes the oxidative reactions in the biosynthetic pathway leading from hyoscyamine to scopolamine. Recent studies on GA 3p-hydroxylase and hyoscyamine 6p-hydroxylase is discussed in terms k. of the substrate specificity of two enzymes.
